Her parents are Harvey Welker, a Native American father as well as Julie Welker, an African American mother. Her father works in engineering and her mother is an agent. Walker was a student at the Germantown Friends School located in Philadelphia's Germantown and graduated with the diploma in 1994. She went to Harvard College, where she received a Bachelors in Arts degree. Welker is in a relationship with John Hughes a well-known marketing director for Merck in Philadelphia and the couple has two kids. In 2014, they started being involved in an affair.
